Cooperation Partners

An enterprise as ambitious as the Regesta Imperii could not be realised without help from numerous cooperation partners. We thank our national and international partners, some of which have supported us for decades in our academic and technical work and hope, that we enrich their ranges as much as they enhance ours. We are always open to new cooperations.

I. Interacademic Partners

The Österreichische Akademie der Wissenschaften and the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften are partner companies of the Deutschen Kommission für die Bearbeitung der Regesta Imperii e.V. within the Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur, Mainz.

Austrian Academy of Sciences

In the Institute for Medieval Research within the Austrian Academy of Sciences, which has been home to the Regesta Imperii since 1906 (Regesta Imperii Wien), there are seven projects being pursued: Frederick I, Albert I, Wenceslaus, Sigismund (revision), Albert II, Frederick III and Maximilian I. The revision of Sigismund’regesta has since 2011 been operated in an office at the Masaryk University in Brno.

Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities

The Berlin office has been part of the project on Frederick III’s regesta since 1992 and has been editing the regesta of Charles IV (1346-1378) in cooperation with the local office of the Monumenta Germaniae Historica-Constitutiones since 1994. Those regesta are being continued in form of a database as well as its addition by evidence of this ruler’s deeds in the literature that has been published since then. With those two sub-projects the colleagues are heavily involved in the work of the RI-Online editors, too.

II. Cooperations

III. Linked partners

The Regesta Imperii have signed cooperations with numerous companies, which make pictures and full texts of charters publicly available online, in order to make a custom-fit, reciprocal linking of our offers possible.

  • The digital "Monumenta Germaniae Historica" (dMGH)
All series oft he MGH, including the complete Diplomata (deeds of rulers from the Merovingians until the interregnum) are available for browsing and full-text search. By keeping the print typography an improved readability of the complex and extensive annotations is assured. Since 2014, the pieces of the Diplomata series have been mutually linked. The linking of additional MGH series is planned.

  • The "Württembergische Urkundenbuch Online"
With the Württemberg record book online the State Archive of Baden-Württemberg presents the central edition on Southwest Germany’s medieval history on the internet. The "Wirtembergische Urkundenbuch" (WUB), published in 11 volumes between 1849 and 1913, was supplemented by unprinted material so that more than 6500 records, which refer to territories of the then kingdom Württemberg, are registered nowadays. Since 2013 the project has been linked reciprocally to the RI-Online.

  • Lichtbildarchiv Marburg (LBA)
The research institute "Lichtbildarchiv älterer Originalurkunden" at the Philipps-University Marburg registers high resolution images especially from early and high medieval deeds, which have been enriched by information on tradition, prints etc. The LBA offers a useful introduction in its use here. The LBA and the RI-Online have been mutually linked since 2012/2013.

  • Hessisches Hauptstaatsarchiv Marburg
We link two digitasing projects of our cooperation partner, the central State Archive Marburg via our archive database Arcinsys. The digitized images of the imperial abbey Fulda have been linked custom-fit in 2009, the images of the Hersfeld directory followed in 2013. Images of every number can be accessed online free of charge and printed.

  • Hersfeld Abbey
The deeds for the Hersfeld abbey (773-1743) are completely accessible as digitates in the archive database Arcinsys.
Apart from the regesta you’ll find digitates of all deeds (front and back matter, all pages of libellis) as well as separate images of all seals there.
Apart from the well-known diplomata of rulers and papal privileges of the early and high Middle Ages the inventory contains to a large extent unknown materials. About 380 feudal deeds permit conclusions about the development of the Hersfeld feudal system in the North Hesse and the Thuringian area. Visitation orders from the 13th century and monks’ vows from the 15th century offer an insight into the conditions inside the abbey.
Access via Arcinsys: Staatsarchive, Hessisches Staatsarchiv Marburg, Urkunden, Reichsabtei Fulda, Reichsabteiliches Archiv, Reichsabtei, Reichsabtei/Stift.
  • Fulda Abbey
The complete regesta of all approximately 2400 deeds of the imperial abbey Fulda (751-1837) were compiled by a group of archivists and researchers within the framework of a digitalisation project funded by the DFG. There are also references to the MGH and the RI in ruler deeds. In the meantime the edition of the time frame up to 1500 has been completed. Users currently have access to 1339 regesta. Apart from many ruler and papal deeds there are numerous instruments from notary’s offices, truces, lease and purchase contracts and other private deeds. Personal and place names were normalised and can ‒ just like the regesta‒ be searched for in the database Arcinsys.
